Scholastic Bowl Team Shares their Smarts

Members of the Upper School Scholastic Bowl team orchestrated a Morning Ex for their peers to share an exhibition match and provide information to help others consider joining their ranks.

Team advisor Ethan Levine and senior Grant Koh helped emcee the event, introducing the assembly to the sport of Scholastic Bowl and asking each of the team members on stage to introduce themselves before playing three matches in succession.

In gameplay, student teams are asked questions within a specific category one at a time. If a team thinks they know the answer, they can “buzz in” with their guess. If the team is wrong or cannot offer an answer in five-seconds after buzzing, play bounces to the other team, who can try to answer. The team earns points based on correct answers; the team with the highest score at the end of gameplay wins.

As part of the Morning Ex Scholastic Bowl experience, those on stage solicited audience participation when neither team knew the correct answer. At the end of the MX, everyone had a better understanding of the sport and respect for their peers on the team who have been so successful in competition throughout the years.

Upper School students who are interested in joining Parker’s Scholastic Bowl Team should contact advisor Ethan Levine at elevine@innsofpei.com for more information.

We are looking forward to another exciting year of competition for these scholastic-athletes!
